This approach is for leaders and teams who want to build and maintain a strong, healthy community within their organisation and manage their results as an expression of their shared commitment.
This work challenges individuals and teams in an unusual way. The approach is not primarily logical and analytical; it is primarily work to strengthen relationships. It is personal, emotional and uncomfortable. It requires a willingness to be vulnerable with others in your organisation. We provide guidance, support and a safe environment - but the hard work is done by you. Everyone in the group will need to be willing to consider participating. The level of engagement in the group is governed by the level of personal engagement of the leader (e.g. the group will be no more open than the openness they see from their leader).
To get the most out of this approach, we work with groups that are relatively autonomous. To a reasonable degree, the group must have the authority to determine how they define their relationship with each other and what their fundamental purpose is as a group.
The key members of the group need to be stable and the environment needs to be stable enough for the work to be worthwhile. There’s no point in starting this work shortly before a merger or while a key role in the group is open; in these cases it’s best to wait until the team is intact and will remain so for the foreseeable future.
